80’s: The PC becomes a supervisory control system:

The history and background of Tatsoft is closely related to the early use of the PC platform for implementing industrial processes, monitoring and control applications. Tatsoft's Founder and CEO, Marcos Taccolini, graduated from ITA with a degree in Electrical Engineering and started working with programmable controllers and software systems in 1985, when the first PC-based monitoring systems were being applied, between 1985 and 1988, he worked on several large projects as a field engineer deploying supervisory system solutions based on the PC platform. These projects included, but were not limited to, very large automation projects for General Motors Manufacturing, Usiminas Steel processes and many others.

Upon dealing with the challenges these systems presented in the field, while using these software configuration tools, Taccolini quickly realized that the available solutions could be leveraged with a more agile and user friendly configuration interface and more project management features; allowing more efficient installations, improved performance and better maintenance.

90’s: Microsoft Windows debuts, Windows16, Windows32 and Windows CE embedded:

In 1990, Taccolini, launched his first product for monitoring, using the then-prevalent DOS operating system. In 1994, he began assembling the excellent development team that is now Tatsoft's employee foundation and launched a Windows based SCADA software product that was the first HMI software to incorporate full online configuration, cross-referencing of structures and arrays in the database in real-time and other innovations that are now required and standard features for such products. After evaluating the available options for a year, the Bosch Group in Germany chose that product as its standard for installation in dozens of manufacturing plants across Europe.

In 1996, Tatsoft also launched the first worldwide full SCADA system for the Windows CE Operating System. In 1996, Bosch expanded the installation of Tatsoft's SCADA software in dozens of factories across Europe and it was also employed in thousands of other systems in many countries.

1999 to 2008: OEMs, Business-Visualization market consolidation, OEM software licensing evolves:

From 1999 to 2008, operating in partnership with industrial automation companies, the Tatsoft team developed and licensed several products used in the area of process controls, as OEM, brand-label, or source code technology licensing agreements. The solutions created under the direct management of Marcos Taccolini and some key members of his team, reached thousands of applications and systems distributed across the world. Many of those past developments, systems and products are still in use in various companies based in the United States, Canada, India, Germany, Brazil and China.

2009: New market and software paradigms, time for major evolutionary steps

The huge technological jump that occurred in the past decade plus highlighted the need for major changes and provided great opportunities for evolution. On the internal side, the software kernels can now use new software technologies and languages while on the external side, a whole new paradigm for the User Experience is expected. In order to meet those requirements Taccolini formed Tatsoft, LLC in early 2009, to develop an entirely new product "from a clean sheet of paper" that, from the most basic design of the architecture, incorporates all of the latest technologies currently available and uses an infrastructure capable of handling the transformations that technologies will offer in the next decade and beyond.

2010: The Next Generation of Technology is the Tatsoft Current Generation; embodied in the FactoryStudio Product!

Thanks to the efforts of an excellent and experienced team of engineers, strong financial investments, and over a full year devoted exclusively to research and development, at the end of 2009, the FactoryStudio Product was made available to partner companies. Early in 2010, the company celebrated more new achievements including the opening of an Outsourcing Development Center in Brazil, a new distribution partnership in California, and the formal release of FactoryStudio 2010.1.

Tatsoft and Marcos Taccolini invite you to help us write the next chapters in the company’s history!
