Engineering on the Cloud

Software as a Service (SaaS) is rapidly becoming a popular and effective way to access important applications. “Cloud computing” is being seen in more production environments than ever before for several important reasons. The SaaS model of application access and data storage is cost effective and convenient, and can reduce expenses for you and your company.

When FactoryStudio is accessed over the internet (we call this access method "computing on the cloud") the user experience is the same as if the Factory environment was hosted on local (in-house) servers. We deliver the same software that users with local implementations use, but with several added features that local users do not get.

As an alternative to hosting your own often extensive data sets, upgrading servers and other equipment and software, and purchasing licenses, FactoryStudio “on the cloud” provides access to this powerful application suite reducing the total cost of ownership, TCO, to our customers. In order to run completely offline applications – applications on the factory floor that require full availability regardless of any internet connection – we also support local on-premises licenses, which allow the published applications to run independently from any remote server.

We are the first in our market space to implement SaaS delivery - when you see our application and the power that is now at your fingertips, you will readily know the value that FactoryStudio via SaaS.

When you run the “Software as a Service”, you won’t need to worry about updating the FactoryStudio software, or saving copies of previous engineering versions used in projects. Both upgrades as well as backups for exact versions used to create your project are automatically stored on Tatsoft servers. You can access those engineering tools from any connected computer, using a SmartClient technology that launches the application with a single click, (without the need to install any additional local software). You are also saved of managing licenses, the username and password used to connect with Tatsoft servers also validates a license for your session in your local computer. Just open, edit, run and share your applications from anyplace, anytime.

Engineering on the Cloud benefits
No installation of software locally required.
E-collaboration is easy and seamless.
Simplification of licensing; licenses are replaced with a monthly subscription.
Safe repository of your projects and all FactoryStudio files is provided by Tatsoft. (Local dedicated servers can also be used.)
All versions of your projects are saved on Tatsoft servers, with easy access to older versions of current projects.
All new versions of FactoryStudio software are accessible via "the cloud", you'll never have to install upgrades when you use FactoryStudio SaaS. When we release a new version of FactoryStudio our “cloud” users get it first.
Implementing projects created "on the cloud" is simple and inexpensive. When you need to have full availability from your published projects without an internet connection, on the factory floor for example, runtime licenses can be purchased and easily installed. These licenses allow projects/applications to run independently of the remote server but they keep the centralized version control and the Quality Assurance built-in features.
Monthly subscriptions to FactoryStudio "on the cloud" can significantly reduce your project cost, in software licenses, hardware, configuration tools and even on trips; increasing the project efficiency and enabling the online interaction among end-users and system-integrators, where ever they are located.
Deployment of local offline runtime applications is easy and straightforward, thanks to FactoryStudio Version Control and Publish system.
Your project files can also be saved on a dedicated server inside your company intranet, while retaining all collaboration for the corporate users.
For large scale and custom requirements, you also can have a dedicated Internet SaaS server using all the FactoryStudio “on-the-cloud” infra-structure.

One of the most important benefits (other than ease of access and the cost savings) of SaaS is the ease with which projects are shared with other FactoryStudio users. We understand that in the field multiple users may need to access the same project, and sometimes simultaneously; FactoryStudio allows you to do this, easily

For example, different business and engineering roles/people often require access to the same project. FactoryStudio project-sharing facilitates swifter development speed, better use of expertise within your company, and easy and secure collaboration with partners wherever they may be. FactoryStudio "on the cloud" does not limit project access by location or company affiliation; this is true online collaboration.

Note: E-collaboration with local installations is also available. However, a VPN channel and some minor network customization is required. With SaaS, all you need is the user name of the FactoryStudio user(s) to whom you would like to share your project. Collaboration is neither limited by time or location - you can collaborate with any FactoryStudio user, anytime, anywhere.

Every time a project is “published” FactoryStudio saves the current version of the project as a new version. Because we provide comprehensive version control, and state of the art computing, you can access previous versions of your project anytime, anyplace. The convenience of FactoryStudio "on the cloud" cannot be overstated.
