Engineering in the Cloud

Software as a Service (SaaS) is rapidly becoming a popular and effective way to access important applications. “Cloud computing” is being seen as a more production environment than ever before for several important reasons. The SaaS model of "hosted" applications as well as data access and storage; is cost effective and convenient, and can significantly reduce hardware, software and IT expenditures for a company.

When FactoryStudio is accessed over the internet (we call this access method "computing in the cloud") the user experience is the same as if the FactoryStudio environment was hosted on local (in-house) servers. We deliver the same software that users with local implementations receive and use, but with added features and services, as discussed below, that local users do not receive.

As an alternative to hosting a local enterprise infrastructure which could involve, upgrading servers and network equipment, upgrading software, security, and purchasing licenses; FactoryStudio "in the Cloud” provides access to this powerful application suite reducing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) to our customers. In order to insure complete availability of applications – applications on the factory floor that require full availability regardless of any internet connection – Tatsoft provides local on-premises licenses, which allow the applications to run independently from any remote server, in the event of a loss of the cloud connection.

Tatsoft is the first in our market space to implement SaaS delivery; contact us for a demonstration of FactoryStudio so that we can show the power, value, and benefits that FactoryStudio, delivered via SaaS, can bring to your Company

When FactoryStudio is delivered via “Software as a Service”, you won’t need to worry about the security and maintenance of the environment, the updating of the FactoryStudio software, or saving copies of previous engineering versions used in projects; as upgrades as well as backups for exact versions used to create projects are automatically stored on Tatsoft servers. You can access those saved versions with engineering tools from any connected computer, using a secure SmartClient technology that launches the application with a single click, (without the need to install any additional local software). The client is relieved of managing licenses as the username and password used to connect with Tatsoft servers validates the license for session(s) in local computer(s).

Engineering "in the Cloud" benefits:
No installation of hardware and software locally required.
E-collaboration is easy and seamless.
Simplification of licensing as licenses are replaced with a monthly subscription.
Secure repository of your projects and all FactoryStudio files is provided by Tatsoft. (Local dedicated servers can also be used.)
All versions of your projects are saved on Tatsoft servers, with easy access to older versions.
All new versions of FactoryStudio software are accessible via "the Cloud"; you'll never have to install upgrades when you use FactoryStudio SaaS. When we release a new version of FactoryStudio our “Cloud” users get it first.
Implementing projects created "in the Cloud" is simple and inexpensive. When you need to have full availability from your published projects without an internet connection, on the factory floor for example, runtime licenses can be purchased and easily installed. These licenses allow projects/applications to run independently of the remote server but they keep the centralized version control and the Quality Assurance "in the Cloud".
Monthly subscriptions to FactoryStudio "in the Cloud" can significantly reduce company costs, in hardware, security, software licenses, maintenance, and configuration tools. Additionally, efficiencies can be achieved from the collaboration enabling, via online interaction among end-users and system-integrators, wherever they are located, of the distributed engineering environment.
Deployment of local runtime applications is easy and straightforward, with FactoryStudio's Software Version Control and Publish Tools.
Your project files can also be saved on a dedicated server inside your company intranet, while retaining all collaboration for the corporate users.
For large scale and custom requirements, you also can have a dedicated Internet SaaS server using all the features of the FactoryStudio “in the Cloud” infrastructure.

One of the most important benefits (other than the ease of access and the cost savings) of SaaS is the ease with which projects are shared with other FactoryStudio users. Tatsoft engineers realize that in the field, multiple users may need to access the same project, and sometimes simultaneously; FactoryStudio allows for this in a secure and easy manner.

In real time operations people in different business and engineering roles often require access to the same data and information; FactoryStudio allows this; facilitating more efficient development, problem solving via collaboration, better use of expertise within your company, and easy and secure collaboration with partners, wherever they may be. FactoryStudio "in the Cloud" does not limit project access by location or company affiliation; with FactoryStudio access can be provided to anyone with the right security credentials, providing true online collaboration.

Note: E-collaboration with local installations is also available; however, a VPN channel and some minor network customization is required. With FactoryStudio "in the Cloud" user(s) with the proper security credentials can achieve unlimited collaboration, neither limited by time or location, collaboration anytime, anywhere.

Every time a project is “published” FactoryStudio automatically saves the current version of the project as a "new" version. Because we provide comprehensive version control, and state-of-the-art computing, you can access previous versions of project(s) anytime, anyplace. The convenience and benefits of FactoryStudio "in the Cloud" cannot be overstated.
